The hybrid ultrasonic flowmeter is a compound flow measurement instrument that combines the Doppler method and the time difference of propagation method (time difference method). It can automatically switch the measurement mode according to the fluid state to adapt to a wider range of industrial application scenarios.

Why do we need a hybrid solution? What problems does it solve?

It perfectly addresses the limitations of single-principle flowmeters in complex operating conditions:

Dealing with changes in fluid properties:
  • Scenario: In a water treatment process, the raw water is very dirty (suitable for Doppler), but becomes clear after treatment (suitable for time difference method). Using a single-principle flowmeter, either it cannot measure in the initial stage or it cannot measure in the later stage.
  • Hybrid solution: Fully automatic adaptation throughout the process, seamless switching, ensuring measurement from start to finish.
Overcoming the "bubble interference" problem:
  • Scenario: In a clean pipeline pumping system, bubbles may occasionally be mixed in. This is a fatal interference for the time difference method, causing the measured value to fluctuate wildly or fail.
  • Hybrid solution: When bubbles appear and cause the time difference method signal to deteriorate, the system immediately switches to the Doppler method (bubbles themselves are excellent scatterers) for measurement, maintaining the stability of the output.
