A dual-beam radar level gauge is an instrument that measures liquid level by utilizing the reflection characteristics of radar waves.

Working Principle

The dual-beam radar level gauge operates based on the time-of-flight principle. It emits extremely short microwave pulses with very low energy. These pulses are transmitted through the antenna system and travel along the cable or rod probe. When the pulse encounters the material surface, it is reflected back and received by the receiver within the instrument. The electronic components calculate the distance between the material surface and the probe based on the pulse travel time, and then determine the liquid level height.
