Insertion Ultrasonic Flowmeter, Stainless Steel Structure, 4-20mA RS485 Relay Output

An insertion ultrasonic flowmeter is a type of flowmeter that measures by making a hole in the pipe under test and inserting the sensor (probe) into the pipe interior. It measures the relationship between the speed of sound wave propagation in the fluid and the fluid flow velocity (usually using the time difference method).

Core features: "Installed outside the pipe, but measures inside the pipe". The sensor part extends into the pipe, while the electronic part and the mounting components are outside the pipe.

Advantages
  • Not restricted by pipe diameter, high cost performance: This is its most prominent advantage. For large-diameter pipes (DN80 and above), the cost of purchasing a full-pipe ultrasonic flowmeter is very high. However, the insertion type only requires a hole to be drilled in the pipe for installation, with a cost far lower than the pipe type. Moreover, the larger the pipe diameter, the more obvious the advantage.
  • Convenient installation and maintenance, no production interruption during installation: With specialized hole-making tools, installation can be carried out without affecting production or stopping production (pressure hole-making), which is crucial for many continuous industrial processes.
  • High measurement accuracy: As the sensor directly contacts the fluid, the signal strength is much higher than that of the external clamp type, making the measurement more stable. The accuracy is usually around ±1%, which is better than the external clamp type.
  • No pressure loss: The sensor has minimal obstruction to the fluid, causing almost no additional pressure loss and achieving good energy-saving effects.
  • Wide application range: It can measure various conductive and non-conductive liquids, such as tap water, sewage, seawater, acid and alkali solutions, oils, etc. (Note: Compatibility between sensor material and fluid should be considered).
  • Easy maintenance: If the sensor is damaged, it can be replaced without interrupting production.
